A TIME-SWITCHED CHRISTMAS

A Time-Switched Christmas began with one carol and one idea - what if we changed the time signature of a Christmas carol? That small experiment turned into something fresh and fun.

From there, the idea grew into a whole collection of reimagined carols. Each arrangement was written with our students in mind - using skills they have learned in a way that makes the pieces sound much more advanced than they actually are and giving them something fresh to play at the Christmas recitals this year. It has been so much fun, and our kiddos are loving the music.

If you're looking for Christmas music that engages your students and keeps them smiling at the piano, "A Time-Switched Christmas" is the perfect addition to your studio library. Click here to listen to the arrangements.

Super Easy Piano Pieces

Earlier this year I wrote out easy versions of a few worship songs for a couple of the primer students. Their reactions were amazing! We were so delighted at how much practice they put into the "real songs." Even the parents were getting more involved.
This prompted me to find simple versions of well-known songs at primer level, as I began to imagine a studio filled with super-motivated students :) There were several books on Amazon, but most of them had the note names written on the notes. After months of note drills and students working hard to learn to read music on the staff, using a book with note names was not something we wanted to do, so I put together my own book (without note names!) of 20 well known songs including:

  • Twinkle Little Star
  • This Old Man
  • Yes, Jesus Loves Me
  • We Wish You a Merry Christmas
  • B-I-N-G-O
  • Alouette
  • Itsy Bitsy Spider
  • Jingle Bells
  • Deck The Halls
  • Spring (Vivaldi)
It has been so well received by both the students and their parents, that we now use it as the “Performance Book” for our primer and early level 1 students.

Our Music Mania Mats (theory worksheets) were such a big hit this past year, that I included the same style worksheet for nearly every song in the book. Our students are enjoying coloring the worksheets, and answering the questions - and most of all, they are enjoying playing "real songs." I think parents enjoy hearing songs they know too 😊

Two sisters on two continents creating super resources for group piano lessons! Yay!
These are resources we used in our in-person group piano lessons. Now we have created online-versions of everything to keep our students loving their lessons.
